How to enter a new article to your website

1. Go to http://pwadmin.parishworld.net/

2. Click CONTENT ITEM MANAGER.

3. Choose the CONTENT CATEGORY you will to add your article.

4. Click the GREEN ARROW to the right of the CONTENT CATEGORY name.

5. Your CREATE CONTENT Item SCREEN will appear.

6. Click your mouse in the BODY box.

7. You can type your articles directly into the BODY box.

8. If you are pasting an article copied from elsewhere, go to step 9.

9. On the first row of the navigation bar, look for the clipboard icon with a letter T in it. This is the "paste as text" icon. Click it. This message will appear: "Do you want to allow this web page to access your clipboard?" Click: "Allow."

10. It is important you maintain a common type style for your articles throughout the website. While it is tempting to go on your own and play with fonts and colors, your website will take an unprofessional look without a common control type style.

We suggest the following format when you create your article

Title of the Article
Bold, Verdana, Medium, color is second row first red on palette.

Subheading of the article (if you have one)
Bold, Arial, X-small, black

Name of author (if you have one)
Arial, italics, xx-small

Body of the article (normal text)
Do not change the default settings

Here's a sample of this style sheet we recommend for your articles:

Because We Don’t Celebrate Sin
Why I am Catholic
By Allison Salerno

MAR. 19, 2010 (http://yimcatholic.blogspot.com) - I don’t have any delusions about the human race. We’ve been messing up our lives ever since Eve ate that apple. While we all keep sinning, in recent years in our popular culture a new trend has taken hold: celebrating sin.

11. Copy the Title of the article and paste into two boxes on the top of the page: INTERNAL REFERENCE NAME and HEADLINE.

12. Copy the first paragraph (3-5 sentences) of the Body of the Article and paste into BLURB.

13. Now let's add a photo. Click the small blue square labeled RELATED IMAGE, You will find this on the upper part of the page just below the Down After Date. Choose a Photo Gallery from the pull down menu. When the photos appear, scroll down and click the photo you would like to use. Click SELECT AND CONTINUE.

14. If you want to use your own pictures, click here for the instructions.

15. What's EDITORIAL? If you want to add an editorial note to preface your articles, type or paste your editorial into this page.

16. Choose an Up-On Date. Choose a Down-after Date. Click the calendar icons to the right of these date tabs or just type in the dates you wish to use.

17. When you’re satisfied with article, click CONTINUE.

18. You may opt to preview the article online. Go to View Content Items and look for the article you just saved. Click the magnifying glass icon next the title of the article. You can now see the article exactly as it appears online.

19. If the article does not display when you view your parish website's front page, don't fret. The article is on the internet and people can see it. But your own web browser is not displaying it YET. The reason is your website browser has not re-cashed and is displaying its last remembered version of your website.

Simply re-fresh your cache and your new article should display for you. Here are the steps to re-fresh your cache from Internet Explorer:

a. Go to Tools in the top navigation bar of Internet Explorer.
b. Go to Internet Options
c. In General, look for Browsing History and click DELETE.
d. In the Delete window, click Temporary Internet Files and click Delete.
e. When it completes deleting, click OK and exit the window.

Refresh your parish website page and your article should now display.

St. Andrew Newman Center Riverside CA said...

Good afternoon! I am trying to add another item under our Sacraments section for the St. Andrew Newman Center, but it is not letting me! I don’t have the option to “copy” another entry. Can you help me out as time allows?

Thanks!

The Sacraments section is designed to have only 7 entries. One for each Sacrament.

If you want to add a non-fixed parish announcement about Sacraments, I suggest you create it in Around the Parish or News Bulletin.

If you want to add “fixed” information about a sacrament, I suggest you do that by adding the new article as a News Bulletin. Then open the Sacraments page and create a link from there to the new article in News Bulletin.

We did this Sacraments protocol to keep the information in the Sacraments pages organized and clutter-free.
