A second collection is a great way to fund the cost of your parish website. Several parishes in our network have reported good response from the parish members to a second collection specifically aimed at sponsoring the parish website.
Here are a few suggestions that might prove useful:
- Your parish members need to understand the evangelization goals of their website. You need to explain that the website is not just a static administrative website. It would be best if you explain how the new website can and should become the parish's online spirituality center. Encourage them to come back and read about our faith everyday. The more they use it, the more successful your second collection can become.
- Schedule the second collection after the website is live and functioning. it will be an easier sell to the parish members if they see a tangible reason for the second collection.
- You might also consider doing two second collections about 2 months apart.
- You alone will know the best time to schedule this second collection. Try not to schedule it around other special collection events.
