Every ministry can benefit from having their own mini-websites. The question is... who needs them the most and who gets ahead of the others. For example, one of our member parishes has discussed setting up 65 individual ministries with unique mini-websites. While it's totally doable, our advise is to create a priority list and build it up in the order of the list established.
So how do you decide which ministries should get their own mini-website? And who gets it first? Only you (at the the parish level) can make that final determination. But, here are some thoughts to ponder as you make this actual determination:
Start with those that want it the most. If they want it, they will use it. Forcing it down on people will only leave you with a static mini-website. No one will update it no one will read it.
Determine the ministries that have leaders that are mature enough to handle this kind of public media. The more mature they are, the less supervision they will require.
Work with ministries that are composed of members that belong to a demographic that truly benefit from this media.
Work with ministries that provide services that can maximize benefits from this media.
Each parish is different, so in the end, it's really your call. We do encourage you to give your ministries more leeway. Ministry leaders are generally responsible people in your community. In the end, the controls we put in place will make the whole process quite manageable.
