The reality is that almost all of our Catholics in the pews are under-Catechized. We estimate that the number is close to 95% - almost all of our faithful don't know enough about their faith. And when one feels that he or she doesn't know enough, they become spiritually challenged.
Lack of knowledge oftentimes makes the spirit falter. Lack of Catechization frequently tends to make one less confident about what their faith really preaches. Lack of confidence in one's knowledge about his or her faith makes Joe and Jane Catholic unlikely candidates to pick up the challenge of evangelization. Instead they become prey to the so-called "more knowledgeable" Protestant faithful who seem to know more about the faith than Catholics.
