20 - 30 MINUTES WEEKLY IS ALL IT TAKES! REALLY.
We suggest you enter new articles regularly, weekly at the least. This creates a sense of "activity" in your front page. It will always look fresh. And just like in any online magazine, if people see fresh articles on your front page daily, they keep coming back.
We will be entering fresh articles into four of the eight sections that your website has on its front page. Expect about 20-30 new articles each week from us. And expect our global sections to be updated daily with fresh headlines and stories. This is our major contribution.
On your end, it would be ideal if you enter as many articles on your parish sections as frequently as possible. It's not a lot of work, really.
Here's a few suggestions from us:
- First, make sure we get a cc email copy of the bulletin at the same time that you email it to your bulletin company. Send it as a PDF file (if at all possible) to cservice@parishworld.net. In most parishes these are done every Wednesday. Click here to see how to convert files too PDF.
- Begin with your weekly bulletin. Identify the new articles for the week that can be found in the parish bulletin. In our experience, most parishes create between 3-5 new articles each week for their bulletin. This should be the minimum requirement for the website.
- Look at each article of these new articles and make a decision as to what section each specific article should be entered: Around the Parish, News Bulletin, Youth Life, Religious Education, Share Your Time, or Pastoral Notes. Enter each one into the chosen section. This weekly process should be a 20-30 minute process. Click here to see how to enter new articles to your website.
- Enter new events into your Parish Calendar of Events. Click here to see how to enter new events to your calendar.
- Enter articles of interest, events, or reflections that might be newly available in your ministry blogs. This will be described in great detail in Chapter II, section 4.0 - Events Management.
- By Thursday afternoon, process the articles you wish to headline in your weekly Friday e-blast. Click here to see how it's done.
- Make sure your weekly pulpit announcement includes a reference to the new items in the website. Encourage them also to subscribe free. Encourage them to advertise in your website.
- Make sure your bulletin includes a weekly announcement encouraging people to read the new items in your website. Encourage them to subscribe free. Encourage them to advertise in your website.
